As a student of printing and media technology, I know just how much there is to learn about the graphic arts industry. During training, whether as a university student or as a trainee, you nearly always have to specialize, because it's impossible to cover all the different fields in the same amount of detail. But later, in working life, it's important that apart from keeping up to date in your specialist area, you don't lose touch with the industry as a whole.
The World of Print Media DVD is ideal for getting a comprehensive overview of all areas within the graphic arts industry, testing your knowledge and, even as a soon-to-be-qualified engineer, learning something new. I wish I had had this DVD while I was still at university.

The Print Media Academy recently launched a new electronic training program for the printing industry. On one DVD you can click your way through the "World of Print Media" and find out practically everything about this sector. This program is particularly worth investing in for printshops wishing to provide their trainees with a comprehensive, informative and well-structured teaching tool. We find it a worthwhile addition to our firm's existing training structure. This program can of course also be used by professionals. It is particularly useful for companies that work directly or indirectly with printshops, such as advertising agencies, publishing companies, etc. - perhaps it may help to avoid problems that can result from misunderstandings concerning the technology.

Learn all about the graphic arts industry in a fun way!
The WOPM is an e-learning tool covering the entire range of fields within the graphic arts industry. Its structure makes it ideal for use both as a learning tool and as an information medium. The user is introduced not only to the all-encompassing technology but also to the various processes involved in the graphic arts industry. Thanks to the three different "knowledge levels", the tool is suitable for any user group. The content is presented both visually and by means of sound, which makes the tool extremely attractive (unfortunately, this was neglected in the presentation of the Heidelberg product range). Many of the imported animations and films are of top quality, which means that learning is fun and the content never appears dull.
WOPM is a major coup for the Print Media Academy - and for new employees and trainees who have had no previous experience in the graphic arts industry, this tool is an absolute (and at the same time very interesting) essential.

The standards are high: from the basics of print technology to complex procedures in the printing process, this program aims not just to provide an overview but also to present a sound understanding of the technology and principles involved. This learning software is aimed at anyone who wants to learn more, from the interested layperson or trainee to the person in the printshop who wants to learn more about the theoretical side.

This learning software is more than just a reference work, it is a knowledge training tool. When you play the DVD for the first time, you are greeted by presenters who introduce you to the subject and tell you how to use the program. They link up the separate sections and connect the different thematic areas. The mere fact that someone is speaking to you makes everything much more appealing. "Knowledge presenters" are then introduced in the various subject areas. You hear a voice that gives clear and precise explanations in a confident and professional language. The user can start the animations himself or herself, and can decide when and how many times he or she wants to see them. Of course, it would have been possible to start the animations automatically, but the interactive element of "doing it yourself" keeps you alert and maintains your interest.

Overall, the software lives up to its claims. The combination of teaching course and reference work is perfect for our agency. From trainee to Senior Art Director, everyone who uses it learns somethings that that they had not known previously in such detailed form.
