Scented Coatings
Scented coatings appeal to the senses - and surprise us with their pleasant fragrance

Scented coatings contain microencapsulated fragrances. They are applied as a final layer to the printing stock surface, either as spot coatings or over the full area. Rubbing breaks the microcapsules and releases the fragrances, creating an attractive aroma that comes as a surprise and stirs the emotions. At each touch, only a few capsules are opened, which means the scent can be refreshed by further rubbing, resulting in a long-lasting effect. All kinds of scents and fragrances are available. They can be adapted to the individual needs of any customer and there are no limits to creativity.

Scented coatings thus do not just make for original advertising campaigns for cosmetics producers. Fragrant labels for cleaning agents and detergents or the Christmas scent of cookie boxes ensure that customers can sense a product for themselves. Business reports or mailings with a scented coating also offer an advantage over competitors. For example, "leather scent" recalls the exquisite product of a shoe manufacturer, or "the smell of a new car" provokes the desire for a new vehicle. Scented coatings are applied in the press, using the coating unit. However, the pressure and temperature should be constant during processing, otherwise microcapsules may be destroyed and the scent may be released too early.
Passion for print - this was how our motif was produced
Scented coatings appeal to the senses. Our motif was first printed in four colors using conventional offset inks. The inside of the cup and the coffee beans were then spot coated using the coating units, with a matt coating applied first, followed by the scented coating with a coffee aroma. A further gloss coating protects the remaining image areas from mechanical damage when rubbing.
