Introduction of PMA China
China, a country with a population of 1.3 billion, is a huge
potential market for the printing industry. The PMC's intention
is to improve the regional knowledge of printing technologies
through different kinds of activities, and then stimulate local
market demand and bring prosperity to the area.
Due to the size of the geographical area covered and the
large variety of languages represented there, four PMAs have so far
been established throughout the Asian Pacific region. PMA China is
in Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province. Its official name, however,
is PMC (Print Media Centre) as in China the word
"academy" is reserved for educational entities.
Since its foundation the PMC has organized a large number of
events, including 24 open houses, 226 internal technical training
courses, 150 customer training seminars, which attracted a total of
more than 6,000 participants. Among them were people from South
Korea, Taiwan, the Philippines, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand and
India. The PMC plays an important role in advancing the progress of
the printing industry in the region.
The PMC's short-term plans and strategic goals:
1. Promote the theory and practice of prepress-press
standardization
A new printing era has begun with the progress of computer
technology and the realization of the digital workflow. Integration
of prepress and press is inevitable. All Heidelberg employees and
customers should be well aware that prepress technology is the key
to printing efficiency in the near future.
2. Motivate the PRINET
Business managers tend to utilize global networks. For the
print process, CIP4 can connect order processing, production
schedules, prepress, press and post-press. This has a profound
effect on the management of print production. The sooner you know
about this, the faster you can sense the trend and make a
successful investment.
3. Train Heidelberg staff to be professionals
An variety of training measures are scheduled for Heidelberg
technical and sales personnel to ensure that they have the
necessary information about new products. Only equipped with
up-to-date know-how of the latest technologies can they provide a
satisfactory service to customers.
4. Schedule more customer training courses to achieve efficient
machine application
To make maximum use of production potential, advanced
equipment must be combined with appropriate technologies and
management. To achieve this, the PMC will organize more customer
training courses and will also offer on-site training for
customers. This latter measure is intended to get a direct feedback
from the customers and help them to quickly improve the print
quality and production efficiency in their company.
Heidelberg's progress is founded on the know-how,
motivation and efforts of more than 600 specialists working in the
R & D section. It is the PMC's duty to pass on their
successful achievements and share it with our staff and our
